You may have come across the term “enmeshment” in therapy, self-help books, or online resources. Enmeshment is a common issue in families with poor boundaries and communication, leading to emotional and psychological entanglement between family members. It can affect your self-esteem, identity, relationships, and overall well-being.

As someone who has been struggling with ADHD, anxiety, and depression for most of my life, I have also experienced the toxic effects of enmeshment.

I have felt trapped, suffocated, and unsupported by family members, who projected their unresolved issues onto me and expected me to conform to their standards and expectations.

It was only through therapy, education, and self-reflection that I learned to recognize the signs of enmeshment and take steps to break free from it.

In this blog post, I want to share with you some of my insights and resources on enmeshment, in the hopes that it will help you understand and cope with this issue in your own life.
